Haven Den Helder

D.A.S. Lastechniek is a company specialising in welding and repair work, both at the company’s own workshop in Den Helder and on location. For work on location, the company operates mobile welding equipment. A great deal of work is carried out on ships docked in the port of Den Helder. D.A.S. Lastechniek is used to responding rapidly to requests for welding and/or repair work on board offshore and other vessels.

The branch of DanCopter at Den Helder Airport is an affiliate of the Danish helicopter company DanCopter from Esbjerg. This company officially started on 1 February 2003 for the operators DONG and Amerada Hess with flights to the Danish sector of the North Sea. On 4 September 2005 DanCopter set up a branch at Den Helder Airport to provide services for the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM). These include shuttle services from Den Helder Airport to NAM platforms and drilling rigs in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. DanCopter had previously carried out work for Wintershall. Modern EC 155 helicopters are used.

Datawell, established in 1961 as a research laboratory for the development of maritime instrumentation, has developed since that time into a renowned designer and manufacturer of oceanographic measuring instruments. The best-known products from Datawell include various types of measuring buoy, used for example for measuring wave height and wave direction. In addition, Datawell has developed sensors for measuring elements of ship motion, such as heave, pitch and roll. The head office and sales department of the company are based in Haarlem, whilst the manufacturing and service & support organisation and the warehouse are located in Heerhugowaard.

Yacht and ship carpentry company De Flux in addition to its main branch in Urk has a subsidiary branch in Den Helder. This is located in a machineshop of Visser Den Helder. The company has made its name through carrying out ship carpentry work on all types of vessels, fishing boats, offshore vessels, naval ships and yachts. In addition to new carpentry work, renovation and repair projects are carried out on boats.

Ship rigging company De Schieman was set up over fourteen years ago by Peter Wezelman, who already then could rely upon many years of experience as ship rigger at the naval dockyard in Den Helder. With his ship rigging company Peter focuses on the trade in rope and steel cable, as well as products that can be manufactured from this. This includes fenders, pudding fenders, cable lifters, mooring ropes, tow ropes, retarders, rope ladders, steel cable hitches, climbing nets, climbing ropes and safety lines. Customers of the ship riggers can be found in the shipping sector, offshore and recreational sailing.

Deep Drill Equipment from Middenmeer is a well-known Dutch supply company to the drilling industry. The oil and gas industry is the company’s largest customer for new and reconditioned tubulars, drilling and production equipment and even complete drilling packages. The products from Deep Drill Equipment are however also used for other applications including water, geothermal, mining and suboil drilling projects. Together with a well-equipped workshop, the company in Middenmeer has an extensive warehouse with tubulars and drilling and production equipment, facilitating a rapid response to requests from the industry. Sister company Rent A Tube BV is established at the same location as Deep Drill Equipment BV.

DeepOcean is a Norwegian company which delivers subsea services to the oil, gas, energy and process industries worldwide. The company has 170 employees divided between its worldwide facilities and nine dynamically positioned vessels. DeepOcean''s head office is situated in Haugesund, north of Stavanger, and branch offices are located in Norwich (UK), Aberdeen (UK), Cuidad del Carmen (Mexico) and Den Helder (The Netherlands). The company has become a market leader in the provision of high quality inspection, maintenance and repair and subsea intervention services to oil and gas operators and contracting companies.

Den Helder Airport is ideally located with respect to the most significant oil and gas fields in the central and southern parts of the North Sea. Oil companies, including NAM, Total, Gaz de France, Taqa, Petro-Canada, Venture Production and Wintershall, daily use this airport as the air transportation base for their offshore operations. The airport is also conveniently located within a stone''s throw of the Den Helder seaport complex. Den Helder Airport''s state-of-the-art equipment includes ILS (Instrumental Landing System), which enables aircraft to land safely even in bad weather. Den Helder Airport is a 50-50 joint venture between CHC Helicopters Netherlands and the Municipality of Den Helder.

The service provision covers all the Dutch ports and on request, beyond. Den Helder Stores supplies products and services to oil and gas companies, drilling contractors, offshore shipping companies and contractors, shipping vessels, merchant fleet, towage and salvage companies, dredging contractors and other ship owners. Den Helder Stores is situated at the Het Nieuwe Werk quay, where it has extensive office and storage facilities.

Den Helder Support Service, founded in 1997, is one of the renowned shipping agents which in addition to its customers in the shipping sector, is also very active in serving customers in the offshore industry. Above all seismic contractors regularly call upon the expertise and facilities of Den Helder Support Service, whose management has built up years of experience in the offshore sector. The company''s offices are located directly at the main dock site, and since mid-1998, the company has also been highly active at Den Helder Airport where helicopters services are being carried out for several oil companies.

DHTC, the trainer in safety, offers a wide variety of training courses for personnel in the oil and gas industries (onshore and offshore), the shipping industry, the offshore wind industry and related companies. DHTC''s training facilities include a large, fully enclosed fire-fighting exercise hall, an indoor swimming pool equipped with a heli-duncher, and a training platform in the seaport of Den Helder, operating a variety of rescue boats. Since the spring of 2002 DHTC has commissioned an exercise building for reconnoitring and fighting an indoor fire under realistic circumstances.

DRM Network, Training & Services is a growing, international company with branches in the Netherlands and Curaçao. The company employs some 35 people. Core business is the implementation and management of information technology. The company is active in the oil and gas industry as well as in the international finance industry and governmental sector. The services include implementation projects, migration projects, transformation of IT organisation, outsourcing and internet related services. The head office of DRM is located in the Staetenhuys, a monumental building dating from 1846 that is located on the Buitenhaven (Outer Harbour) of Den Helder.

Dutch Oilfield Services Company (DOSCO) is an international oilfield rental and supply company. The company was founded in 1992, and has established locations in the Netherlands and Romania. DOSCO has invested in purchasing equipment from well-known international suppliers. Equipment and services are provided for example for drilling work in the oil and gas industry, both onshore and offshore, and for production tests and work-over jobs in this sector. DOSCO is also active in the sale of oilfield equipment.
