Haven Den Helder

Heerhugowaard-based M-I Drilling Fluids International is an affiliate of M-I SWACO, a global company with 350 offices in more than seventy countries. MI-SWACO comprises a wide array of businesses that are specialised in drilling, reservoir drill-in and completion fluids and associated services for the petroleum industry. On the Paleiskade in Den Helder which was renovated in 2006, M-I Drilling Fluids International has built a sophisticated mud plant, which is one of the most modern of its kind in the world. This mud plant manufactures the drilling fluids that are used in the drilling work in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The plant also recycles drilling fluids used in offshore for re-use. A special feature is that the supply vessels that transport the drilling fluids can moor right next to the mud plant.

Maritieme Afvalstoffen Inzamelijk Nederland, MAIN in short, is specialised with the collection of ship waste products from inland shipping, the fishing industry, and the shipping and offshore industry throughout the Netherlands. The company has a modern fleet of ''environmental boats'', tank wagons and trucks. Various Dutch sea ports have permanent collection points, such as in Den Helder, Den Oever, Harlingen, Stavoren, Amsterdam and Delfzijl. In Den Helder, on the Nieuwe Werk quay, MAIN has a harbour collection installation (HOI). The environmental boat MAIN II is stationed here.

The Multimetaal Group, established in 1973, is operating from Den Helder, the industrial area Kooypunt. Transport is made by road and water, directed to the open water route to the North Sea. Vast experience has been gained in offshore-related areas, such as engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, installation, repair and overhaul of a variety of products, including general onshore and offshore constructions, pressure vessels and storage tanks, piping, modular subsea protection covers and tailor-made products. The structures and systems have been manufactured in various types and grades of material such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, cunifer and austenitic/ferritic stainless steel (Duplex).

In addition to the manufacturing of all kinds of products, Multimetaal repairs, maintains and overhauls pressure safety valves, diesel engines, process systems, compressors, structures, piping, ball valves and process valves.
