Haven Den Helder

Transportbedrijf N.C. Mulder, based in Den Helder, has been carrying out overland transport for many years, and operates throughout the whole of north-western Europe.

National Oilwell Varco is the Dutch branch of National Oilwell Varco (NOV) from Houston, USA, a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of comprehensive systems and components used in the oil and gas drilling and production sector, onshore and offshore. Other activities include the provision of oilfield tubular inspection, internal tubular coatings, and providing supply chain integration services to the upstream oil and gas industry. NOV has been active in the oil and gas industry for more than 140 years and has succeeded in constantly expanding its range of services by deploying tools and technologies developed in-house. The company has now established an excellent reputation with these activities.

The Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) is an independent research institute associated with the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). NIOZ was founded in 1876 and is one of the oldest major European Oceanographic institutions. Its mission is to pursue curiosity-driven multidisciplinary marine research in coastal and shelf seas as well as in the open ocean through close co-operation between physicists, chemists, geologists and biologists. Wherever possible, the institute engages in policy-focused and society-driven research. At present NIOZ employs 250 staff. To perform its mission NIOZ has at its disposal laboratories, major experimental facilities and four research vessels for sea-going research.

Subsidiary branches are found in Den Helder, Harlingen and Eemshaven. The Den Helder branch supplies electronic bridge equipment to fishing boats, tugboats, offshore vessels and merchant ships. In addition to selling this equipment, including radars, gyro compasses, autopilots, ECDIS and the Automatic Identification System (AIS), it also carries out maintenance and repair work on this equipment.
